Still on a high after performing at the recently concluded IIFA in Bangkok, Katrina Kaif is enjoying the wishes and accolades that are coming her way. Dancing to a medley of her hit numbers, Katrina's biggest regret is, "I wish Akshay Kumar could have joined me on stage, but as he flew in a night before, we could not rehearse together." Although she did not win any award for her histrionics, she grabbed the style icon award at the IIFA. And it was no surprise as she has just won FHM's Sexiest Woman of the year. Kats was voted at the No. 1 spot in FHM India's 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll, fending off competition from the likes of Hollywood superstars Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson, singers Rihanna and Madonna, Bollywood superstars like Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu, supermodels like Adriana Lima and Gisele Bundchen, amongst several other sexy and successful women in the world. "I think it's a nice thing that people have taken the time out to vote for me as FHM 's Sexiest Woman in the World, and that's what makes this really special to me," said Katrina Kaif. "This poll is something you have to smile about – it's fun, it's sweet – and I'm really happy to have won this." After a whirlwind shoot of Vipul Shah's Singh is Kinng, which was shot across the three continents of Asia, Africa and Australia, Kats will be planning for her Yashraj film. Not bad for a girl who was written off as just another english speaking phirangi trying her hand at hindi films.

Katrina Kaif, one of the most sought after actresses in Bollywood, debuted with a bang through "Boom", a movie about models getting caught up with the underworld. Though the movie bombed, people couldn't easily forget her angelic face and voluptuous figure. Not many have gained the fans and popularity as a new entrant as Katrina has done. Katrina is half Indian and half British. Her father is an NRI and her mother is English, which makes her poor at Hindi. Initially critics were very harsh on her for her poor Hindi. But she has worked hard on it and started taking dancing lessons - both very essential to survive in the industry. Now she has started dubbing on her own. She has done few movies down south and is a popular face there already. She has done two Telugu movies - Malliswari(2004) and Allari Pidugu(2005) and a Malayalam film (Balram vs. Taradas). In 2005 she starred in "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya" opposite Salman Khan and Ram Gopal Varma's "Sarkar". "Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye" with Akshay Kumar followed. Although she wears bold outfits on films and ads, she is very particular about her clothes and she feels more comfortable in not-so-revealing clothes in personal life. And unlike others in her field she absolutely hates wearing make up. Although she has been seeing Salman Khan for some time now, she still refuses to talk about him in the media. She has made it clear that her personal life is not meant to be known to all and that no one has a right to pass any kind of judgement on it. She has lots of exciting projects lined up. One of them is "Partner" with boyfriend Salman Khan and Govinda. She is also doing "Apne" in which real life father and sons Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol all star together, for the first time. Then there is Anees Bazmee's "Welcome" with Akshay Kumar. With her gorgeous face and hourglass figure, Katrina Kaif has won a dominant place in the Bollywood film industry. One of eight sisters, Katrina was born to a Kashmiri father and English mother. She grew up in Hawaii, moved to London and now has made Mumbai her base.
She started modeling at the young age of 14. When she was doing modeling in London, filmmaker Kaizad Gustad noticed her and gave her a role in his film 'Boom' (2003). In Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya she got the right role to showcase her talent. In between she did two films in Telugu - 'Malliswari' and 'Allari Pidugu which more than made up for her flop debut. Katrina's first release in 2006 was 'Hum Ko Deewana Kar Gaye'. Her outstanding performance in the film, her best till date, has been highly acclaimed by the audience. She also acted in a Malayalam film called 'Balram Vs Taradas' with superstar Mammootty and has been signed for a Tamil film 'Bheema' opposite Vikram..
Initially filmmakers were hesitant to sign her because of her linguistic shortcomings but now she is taking Hindi lessons as well as dancing lessons to fit in with the Bollywood culture. She, an incurable romantic in her own words is rumoured to be involved with Salman Khan.
Katrina seems to have it all looks, intelligence and the ambition to make it big in Bollywood. Now all we have to do is wait and watch for her roles to hit the screen.
